sacrament is a visible sign of an invisible grace. e.g baptism visible sign water invisible sign holy spirit enter the church etc.

Grace present and action of God

The Sacramental principle: God is present in everyday life. In ordinary things

Encounters with God climbing a mountain, seeing the sunset, having a meal together

Eucharist, Mass and Holy communion they are the same thing the everyday reality of being with God

Luke's account of the last supper

Last Supper was a Passover meal

Symbols used at Eucharist:
  • Bread and wine because part of the Passover meal - need to have gluten
  • lamb of God - the lamb that was sacrificed

Eucharist is not only a meal but also a sacrifice

People are the body of Christ.

Going to Mass on Sunday is like recharging to carry on his work
